It is possible to plan a wedding at the eleventh hour and end up having a fabulous time, but if you want a lavish affair with 500 guests, it is a much better idea to start organizing the event several months in advance.
So what are the key things you need to take care of if you want a dream wedding? Let’s have a closer look in order to plan that ‘perfect wedding’ below:
Venue

The venue is possibly the most important aspect of a wedding. Some popular wedding venues book up years in advance, which is why couples are expected to place a hefty deposit if they want their nuptials to take place somewhere amazing. So if you have your heart set on getting married somewhere exclusive, be prepared to book the venue a long time ahead of your preferred date.
Dress

As any bride knows, finding the right dress is crucial. But it isn’t just the bride’s dress you need to worry about—you may also have to find suitable outfits for the groom, best man, and a selection of bridesmaids and page boys.
Hen and Stag Parties
Every bride and groom needs to have a hen and stag do prior to their nuptials. Stag and hen parties are a rite of passage and a chance for the happy couple to let their hair down one last time before they become a happily married couple. For best results, do not plan a hen or stag party the eve of the wedding.
Rings

Ideally, choosing the rings should be a mutual decision. The bride and groom should discuss in advance what type of ring they want. Once a decision has been made, the rings will need to be sized so that they fit properly, so don’t leave this until the last minute.
Flowers

Before flowers can be chosen, the bride and groom need to decide upon a suitable color scheme for their wedding. Once a color scheme has been selected, flowers for the venue, the bride’s bouquet and buttonholes for other members of the wedding party can be selected.
Cake

Cakes can be as decorative as you like. Some couples prefer a traditional fruit cake covered in white fondant icing and flowers whereas others adopt a more modern approach and go for tiers of cupcakes. Whatever you decide, talk to the cake designer well in advance of the big day and make sure you approve of the cake design before you give the go ahead for it to be made.
Catering
Whether you decide to have a buffet or a five course meal, you will be expected to provide food and drink at the venue. Obtain a few quotes in advance of the day and have a few tasting sessions to make sure you are happy with the quality of the food on offer.
Wedding Car
The bride and other members of the wedding party will need some kind of transport to the wedding venue. Cars, motorcycles, horse drawn carriages—you can have any mode of transport you like. Just remember to take the weather into account as an open top vintage Rolls Royce won’t be much fun in the middle of a snow storm.
Photographs

Wedding photographs provide a wonderful record of the happy day. It may be possible to persuade a relative or friend to take the pictures, but for best results, hire a professional photographer.
There is a lot to think about when planning a wedding. Writing lists and delegating some of the tasks to others is a great way of ensuring you don’t forget anything vital. Alternatively, hire a wedding planner.
