The centerpieces for wedding tables are going to be a focal point of your decorating. They are one of the first things that people are going to see when they enter the reception room.
Over the last few decades, centerpieces along with everything else associated with weddings have changed dramatically. There is no standard for table centerpieces.
The latest trend is to have extremely tall arrangements. Many couples are selecting a table decoration that is well over three feet tall. These high, elaborate creations are gorgeous, but they work best on tables that are rectangular.
Wedding reception
If you do plan to have round tables at the wedding reception, it is important to ensure that the decoration will not hinder the conversation at the table. A design that is very wide at the base will not permit people to be able to see across the table. (See wedding planner book and wedding decorations on a budget too)
An interesting idea is to vary the pieces between tables. This concept works very well at theme weddings. For example, if you are using a nautical theme, you might choose to have a different type of boat on each of the tables.
Alternatively, you could use the same model of boat painted to match the wedding colors, but vary the trim and the name on the ship.
If you prefer more unity in your decorating, you could have two basic designs, one tall and one short. This effect works extremely well if you have rectangular tables. Using this idea, you create a more interesting look to the room. The alternate heights of the centerpieces are very eye catching.
Table decoration
If you have decided to go with a tall table decoration on all the guests’ tables, you may still want to consider using short ones on the wedding table. Guests will want to have a clear view of all the people sitting at the head table and tall pieces may restrict their line of sight.
Many brides like to use the same type of flower in their bouquet and on the tables. By choosing to incorporate the same flowers, you can build a more cohesive feel to the tone of the wedding. It is often easier to use artificial flowers in the table decorations simply because they will not wilt and will look fresh no matter how long the reception lasts.
Wedding centerpieces
Wedding centerpieces do not have to be floral arrangements. They can be virtually anything that fits into the theme of the wedding. Crystal and candles are beautiful and in a dimly lit hall, their sparkle creates an intimate romantic mood.
Get creative when you are thinking about centerpieces for wedding tables. Do not limit your thoughts to the simple flower display. There are hundreds of ideas. Take some time and find a special one that will really suit your wedding.
